Do YOU Believe in a Fitness Myth?
Same as anything in life there are truths and myths when it concerns physical fitness.
Particularly when it concerns exercise, there is plenty of talk about things you can do to tone up a certain area of the body. Unfortunately, this is a myth. Do not be fooled. There is no exercises that can truly ‘fix’ any one particular area of your body. There is a term for this, spot training, and the fact is you cannot know how the exercise will affect your body.
For example, when you jog you are incinerating fat over your entire body and not merely on your legs. One thing you can do is cross train using weights, as a part of your routine. Sit ups work well to make the abdominals stronger and toned, for example.
There is also the myth that females lifting weights end up bulking up. Fact is, females don’t produce sufficient testosterone to make large muscle gains. The reality is that females are more likely to slim down as they lift weights. Women gain multiple physical benefits from lifting weights including: improved metabolism, more strength, weight loss and a better chance at fighting off osteoporosis.
It is widely believed by people that in order to get good results from exercise they have to workout hard and frequently. This is false. There are a lot of reasons to do a medium amount of exercise including lessening the risk for stroke and heart disease. Even really busy folks who can not spare thirty minutes per day to workout should be able to find ten minutes here and there to do something.
A walk at the mall will even suffice. A lot of folks who work stagnant jobs, such as behind a desk, are starting to take walks during lunch. Any amount of exercise is better than none at all.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a quick fix that can make your tummy flat. Flattening your tummy is impossible by ab exercise, alone. The best thing you can do is strip it away slowly through aerobics and weight training. A healthy and well balanced diet is also critical. You can easily gain plenty of muscle in the abs but won’t be able to see it unless you get rid of the fat layer, on top of it.
It’s crucial, that if you wish to burn fat, that you watch how many calories you are taking in. A walk, bicycle ride or intense swim will allow you to incinerate more calories than exercising alone. It isn’t really all about the number of calories you can incinerate but the number that end up leading to weight loss.
‘No pain or no gain’ is a very big myth. There should be no pain as you are doing your exercises. It is your body’s way of telling you that something isn’t right. There should be no wrong, when concerning exercise, particularly if you want to see great results. There can be a lot of heavy breathing and sweating, as your exercises intensify, but pain shouldn’t be present.
Breathlessness is common and fully acceptable. There’s a major difference between experiencing the trademark burning sensation and actual pain in the muscles or joints. The wrong type of pain will be sharp and really not comfortable. Your body will tell you everything you need to know, just listen to it.
